A little Talmud and wisdom of the Sages of blessed memory for our erev studies:
“A favorite saying of Raba was: The goal of wisdom is repentance and good deeds, so that a man should not study Torah and Mishnah (oral law) and then despise his father and mother and teacher and his superior in wisdom and rank as it says The fear of HaShem is the beginning of wisdom, a good understanding have all they that do thereafter. it does not say that do, but that do thereafter, which implies that do them for their own sake and not for other motives… (which teaches us we are to study the Torah and mishnah so that we can obey what we learn.)
A favorite saying of Rab was: The future world is not like this world , In the future world there is neither eating or drinking, nor progation nor business nor jealousy nor hatred nor competition but the righteous sit with their crowns on their heads (crowns of the Torah) and feast on the brightness of the divine presence, as it says they beheld G-d, and did eat and drink.
Our Rabbis taught: Greater is the promise made to the women than to the men by the Holy one blessed be He, for it says: ‘Rise up ye women that are at ease, ye confident daughters give ear to my speech..” (Berakoth 17a) Some wonderful wisdom for everyone from our wise Sages and Rabbis have a wonderful erev chaverim, ve’shalom.
